Women support Seminarians on their own
In a special mass presided over by the Apostolic Administrator, Archbishop Ignatius Chama, a multitude of women from all over the Diocese gathered in St. Joseph’s Cathedral and presented a special gift to the ordinary.
Accepting the gift of money equivalent to train one seminarian in the major seminary for a entire year, the Archbishop recognized it as “fruits of the grace of the Year of Faith.” The women in the diocese quietly contributed money over and above other financial commitments in their respective parishes which was put at the disposal of the Archbishop to help him pay for the education of seminarians.
With such a gesture, one would safely say that the Year of Faith has awakened in the hearts of the Catholic faithful a deeper sense of sacrifice which is demonstrated by their generosity. The women pledged to continue supporting the training program of our seminarians. Indeed we can say with confidence that the end of the Year of Faith is not a mark of sealing a lid on the container of God’s grace but a launching pad for a deeper faith at the service of the Church. Now, the question is: Where is the Men’s initiative?
