Lwitikila Golden Jubilee
Exalting God for 50 yrs of Excellence
Ex pupils, parents of the present pupils, teachers, well wishers and present pupils of Lwitikila Girls’ Secondary School celebrated golden jubilee from 28 to 29 September 2012. The golden jubilee was flagged off by his Excellency, Most Rev. Ignatius Chama on 28 September evening. Prior to this, there was a Holy Walk in the morning from the junction of the Mpika-Nakonde road to Chisonkolo Falls. During the walk, Chief Chikwanda welcomed the gathering at the junction signifying how the missionaries were welcomed 50 yrs ago. Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Kashimoto gave a brief history of Lwitikila. At the falls, a cross was placed on a hill facing the falls and a mutaba tree planted – to signify peace and unity.
In the afternoon, there was a PTA general meeting in the school hall where a number of issues were discussed and will be implemented soon for the good of the school and all stakeholders.
On the actual day of the jubilee, the Archbishop presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration. St. Francis Band gave colour to the celebrations and we are grateful to them.
The second Lady, Charlotte Scott was the guest of honour and on behalf of the first Lady she presented a 29 seater Higer bus to the school.
